MUST READ: Father Kills Son By Setting Him On Fire


A man by the name Kehinde was said to have allegedly killed his own 22-year-old biological son, Sola Akangbe by setting him on fire early in the morning of Saturday, January 9.
The sad incident was said to have occurred at Omu-Aran area of Kwara state after the victim could not survive the various degrees of burnt he got.
Sola Akangbe had serious and series degrees of burns. He was certified dead after all efforts by doctors in Ajisafe Hospital, Omu-Aran to save his life proved abortive because his body parts were seriously affected by the fire. It was some police officers that rushed him to the hospital.
The deceased eked out his living by pushing wheelbarrow to carry people’s goods.

Sources had it that the wheelbarrow pusher was said to have stolen an undisclosed amount of money belonging to some roadside beggars before he was arrested and handed over to his father, Kehinde.
Sola’s father who is a commercial bus driver was reported to have taken him to a nearby bush close to Omu-Aran-Isanlu-Isin road. Thereafter, the deceased had his hands and legs tied with ropes and set ablazed.
Sola, who was still alive when he was rescued, told his rescuers that his father was responsible for the act. It was also learnt that the victim confirmed that it was his father that set him on fire as he told his rescuers before he eventually died.
The deceased mother, Rachael has been in sad mood as she was found crying endlessly in the ward of the hospital Sola was brought for treatment after her son’s death. Although, Rachael said Sola was very stubborn, but she was totally shocked when he heard of her husband’s cruel behaviour.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kwara state, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the sad incident and said the police has begun investigation into the matter as they have the suspect, that is Kehinde in their custody.
